This three-hour cruise offers an extended, first-hand birding experience in key Mississippi River Flyway habitats. Experienced birders and river naturalists will accompany each cruise and provide interpretation and birdwatching assistance. Visitors will experience amazing close-up views of thousands of elegant tundra swans and hundreds of thousands of a wide variety of ducks plus numerous bald eagles, canada geese, pelicans, cormorants, and other wildlife. The riverboat tour will explore open backwaters and side channels that border floodplain forests of this Wetland Gem™, the Upper Mississippi & Trempealeau River National Wildlife Refuges.
Snacks and drinks will be served at no extra charge, but participants are also allowed to bring their own refreshments. Trip leader John Wetzel will discuss the area’s importance for fish, wildlife, birds, and people. Cameras and binoculars are highly recommended.
