The summer Dubuque Farmers’ Market has been located in the Upper Main district since 1845.

Each Saturday morning, May 1 through October 31, local vendors gather to sell homegrown or handmade items. Located in downtown Dubuque, Iowa, in the area around City Hall. (Iowa, 12th, and 13th streets!)

The Quapaw Canoe Company will be guiding an exploratory adventure down the Lower Mississippi from Memphis to Helena, Arkansas. These two great river towns are connected by a beautiful stretch of river. Highlights will be Buck Island, where in 1820 John James Audubon saw bears running wild; the Josie Harry Bar, named for the steamboat that went down in 1883; and Cat Island, the biggest and wildest island in this stretch of river. Cat Island’s diverse landscape, full of hardwood forests, floodplain fields, sandbars, and even red cedars make for supreme camping.
The trip will map and photograph the river as a part of the creation of the Lower Mississippi River Water Trail – “The Rivergator” – a paddler’s guide that will stretch from the Missouri River Confluence down to the Gulf.

The grand finale of the Memphis in May International Festival, this time honored event features the Memphis Symphony Orchestra performing on the banks on the Mississippi River in downtown Memphis orchestrated to a gorgeous sunset.

The State of the River Report highlights 13 key indicators of river health, and details the results in way that non-scientists can understand. The report provides a current snapshot, as well as history and trends, of factors affecting the health of the river and solutions to help protect and improve the metro portion of the Mississippi River.
