On Saturday, April 27 the 1 Mississippi Campaign via the Mississippi River Corridor-Tennessee exhibited at the second annual GreenUp Festival at the Memphis Farmer’s Market downtown.

Jointly held by the City of Memphis and Memphis City Beautiful, the event spotlighted local green and sustainability-oriented organizations.

The bustling crowd was beckoned to the green expo by music and dance performances from local artists.

The city’s office of sustainability was there, along with Memphis Light Gas & Water (with free energy efficient bulbs), the Wolf River Conservancy, Tennessee Recovery Project (which offers counseling after natural disasters), the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, and Harahan Bridge Project, among others.

Memphians and those from surrounding areas seemed eager to become River Citizens and learning about protecting the Mississippi River from harm.
