The Mississippi River flows through the heart of America. For centuries, it has nourished our crops, fostered our wildlife and sustained our families. As human consumption has changed, we have in turn had a greater, often harmful, influence on the River. Pollution from farms, untreated sewage and factories along with weak enforcement of water laws has caused our once mighty Mississippi to deteriorate.
