Green Lands Blue Waters is celebrating River Days of Action with a new training resource to build knowledge and skills around agricultural practices that support a healthy Mississippi River. A key to river health is implementing working lands conservation practices within the watershed – things like continuous living cover (CLC) on farmland! Hot off the press is a free online course, “Continuous Living Cover 101”. This course is for early career technical assistance providers – and anyone else new to CLC. Join us online for a quick preview – learn how to access the course for you, your staff, colleagues, and farmers, and learn a little about CLC along the way!
Here is the link to join this special event via Zoom on June 13th from 1:00 – 2:00 pm CT: https://umn.zoom.us/j/95212521936?pwd=WTFuTzVvcHJEWDZxOUJmRm42bjlxZz09
Continuous Living Cover is an adaptive approach to implementing regenerative farming practices that maintain year-round vegetative cover on the agricultural landscape through agroforestry, perennial grains, forage, biomass, cover crops, and winter annuals.
“Continuous Living Cover 101” introduces the concept, describes five basic strategies to achieve CLC, and goes over economic and environmental benefits with on-farm examples. It also covers how to talk to farmers and support them in choosing and implementing CLC strategies. Throughout the course, there are recommendations on where to find more information.
