Walk & Learn: Ford Area C and Twin Cities Locks & Dams
In partnership with Mississippi River Network’s River Days of Action, Friends of the Mississippi River will be hosting a free, river-focused walking tour at Hidden Falls Regional Park. We’ll talk about the Ford Area C toxic waste site and the future of two Twin Cities locks and dams. This is a great opportunity to get up close to the river while learning about important studies that could impact its future.

Agenda
- 5 p.m. — Meet at the picnic shelter at the north entrance of Hidden Falls Regional Park for an optional pre-tour social hour. We will be providing drinks and light snacks.
- 5:30 p.m. — Depart picnic shelter and walk an unpaved trail along the river, while learning about the history of the Ford Area C site and the Twin Cities locks and dams. It is about a 1-mile walk to the Ford Area C site and view of Lock and Dam 1.
- 6:30 p.m. — Walk back to picnic shelter, with time for a Q&A session.
- 7 p.m. — End of walking tour.
We recommend wearing shoes and clothing that you don’t mind getting wet or muddy — the trail will likely be very muddy this time of year, with the potential for some flooding.
