On June 27th, River Citizens from Dubuque, Iowa, were given the chance to enjoy quite an evening along the Mississippi River. It began with relaxing on the patio of Stone Cliff Winery in the Port of Dubuque while sampling different wines. After great wine and conversation, River Citizens enjoyed a walk on Dubuque’s Mississippi Riverwalk, which sports artwork by various local, national and even international artists. Jan Stoffel, the Arts and Cultural Affairs Coordinator for the City of Dubuque, gave a tour of the artwork, told the history of the project and invited the River Citizens to the opening of the new art exhibit on July 12th.

Thank you to all River Citizens for everything they do to protect and clean up the Mississippi River. It is rewarding to take time to enjoy the Mighty Mississippi and see the efforts that we and others have made to clean up and protect the Mississippi River.

*Field Notes is a new series from the 1 Mississippi campaign, created and developed by our regional campaign interns as a means to encourage River Citizen engagement and to help our interns grow as environmental leaders.
