Water Enthusiasts, History & Music Lovers, Civil War Buffs, Birdwatchers, Hunters & Fishermen, and the Curious……
Tennessee has an experience
just for you!
Throughout our six counties fronting the Mississippi River, (Lake, Lauderdale, Obion, Tipton, and Shelby) the choices for entertainment, adventure and family fun are endless!
Whether you are driving along the National Scenic Byway, biking the Mississippi River Trail, fishing in Glenn Springs Lake, kayaking, or just hanging by the banks/boardwalks at Reel Foot Lake listening to your favorite rhythm and blues song, you will encounter “small towns full of history, local fare bursting with flavor, and natural areas brimming with wildlife”. For more information on things to do check out the Great River Road in Tennessee.
I welcome all River Citizens to explore this fascinating and more than intriguing 240 mile long corridor. It’s rich culture, wildlife and musical history tells a story that brings the Mighty Mississippi to life!
To begin, kick off your entertainment, adventure and family fun with the Memphis in May International Festival starting May 3rd at the Beale St. Music Festival. Then feast your eyes and tummies on one of the largest BBQ contest in the world! This three day long contest is where you will find hickory smoke hanging in the air and some of the sweetest and most succulent pork ever que’d.
In the meantime, take the family out for some outdoor adventure within the corridor and enjoy one of our four state parks: T.O Fuller, Meeman Shelby Forest, Ft. Pillow or Reelfoot Lake, combined to total over 40,000 acres of exhilarating hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, camping excitement or a Civil War reenactment!
Come test your “River Legs”
and take advantage of these longer days
and fantastic nights along the River!
